This spring Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union participated in two
large community events in order to spread the word about Financial
Fitness. On May 17, MAFCU was the title sponsor of the MAFCU
Germantown 5-Mile race. Proceeds from the race benefited both
the Germantown Boys and Girls Club and Community Services
for Autistic Adults and Children (CSAAC). MAFCU sent a team
of employees to participate in the race while other employee
volunteers passed out financial tips flyers and spread the message
about the benefits of credit union membership.
MAFCU was also a sponsor of The Gazette Healthy Challenge,
an annual weight loss contest held by Montgomery County's
community newspaper. Throughout the program, the credit union
wrote several "advertorials" on how to achieve and maintain a
financially healthy lifestyle. Contestants also participated in one-on-one
financial health checkups that MAFCU provided specifically for
their benefit. MAFCU's goal is to help everyone realize that being
financially fit is as important as being physically fit.
